About
Hi, I’m Erica.
I’m a strategic marketer, operator, and storyteller – and above all, I love getting things done effectively, efficiently, and with everyone onside.
I’m the VP of Marketing at BioLite, a social enterprise dedicated to delivering safe, reliable energy to people all over the world. Through our unique business model of Parallel Innovation, we have one foot in the Outdoor Recreation market where people go off-grid by choice and one foot in Emerging Markets where millions of families live off-grid by circumstance. I have the honor of launching our products, conveying our mission, building our brand, and educating our customers, partners, and teammates about what we make, what we do, and why we do it. As one of the first hires at the organization I have been part of an incredible team that has now scaled to over 100+ employees and reached over 15 million individuals with safe energy access.
I got my start at Sterling Brands, a brand consultancy based in New York City, where I worked with Fortune 500 companies as both a strategic consultant and consumer insights specialist, conducting hundreds of focus groups and ethnographies all over the world. I talked to dads in Boston about pickles, had a mom crying in my lap in Ohio (yes that happened), facilitated candid in depth interviews with client stakeholders, and pored over the open-ends in endless quant surveys. It was here that I learned the importance of listening and the power of empathetic communication and owning a narrative. This has gone on to serve me immensely as a program manager, people manager, cross-functional colleague, client, and marketer.
As a veteran of the startup world, I deeply appreciate the individuals and organizations looking to bootstrap their way to impact. In my free time I offer a mix of pro/low-bono consulting to help nonprofits and small businesses identify their challenges and create action plans rooted in reality.
I believe strong outcomes always start with taking the time to actually unearth the problem you are trying to solve. With a little bit of digging (and a lot of listening) you may find it’s different from your first assumption. Those are the kind of tangled things I love to figure out.
I want to make my world bigger every chance I can get - drop a line, say hello, let’s connect.
